Essential Life-Saving Skills for Caregivers of Babies and Young Children
This popular and highly practical course focuses on the essentials of CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Procedures, specifically designed for helpers and caregivers looking after babies and young children.
Conducted over two slower-paced sessions, this course ensures your helper truly understands and remembers what to do when it matters most.
We sincerely hope these skills are never needed — but believe every caregiver should be prepared with life-saving knowledge.
Course Structure:
Session 1: Essentials of First Aid and Kitchen Hygiene (3 hours)
How and when to call an ambulance
Recommended items for a home first aid kit
Managing kitchen and food preparation safely
Recognising and providing initial first aid for:
Poisonings
Burns
Head injuries (concussion)
Bleeding and fractures
Allergic reactions
Drowning incidents
Skin infections and heat-related illnesses
Session 2: CPR & Emergency Procedures for Newborns and Toddlers (3 hours)
Hands-on CPR training for babies and toddlers using mannequins
Managing choking emergencies safely and effectively
Safe handling, settling, and feeding practices for babies and toddlers
Course Details:
Duration: Two sessions of 3 hours each (Total 6 hours)
Fee: $260 per helper
We encourage open discussion and questions throughout. Please wear comfortable clothing, as some practice will take place on the floor. A short 10-minute break is provided between sessions.
