For Dads

Practical workshops. Honest conversations. Real skills.
Support for the transition into fatherhood - before and after baby arrives.

No fluff. No judgment. No being treated like an afterthought.

Fatherhood Changes You Too

No one really talks enough about:

  • how overwhelming the first few months can feel

  • the identity shift into becoming a father

  • relationship changes after baby arrives

  • the pressure to keep functioning while exhausted

  • feeling helpless when your partner is struggling

  • how lonely new fatherhood can sometimes be

And yet these experiences are incredibly common.

The Dad Space exists to support fathers through that transition - practically and emotionally.

Offering #1: Dad Skills

Practical preparation for life after baby arrives

A hands-on workshop designed specifically for expectant fathers and partners. Because confidence in fatherhood rarely comes from reading a pamphlet.

This 2.5hr workshop is taught by experienced healthcare professionals and postpartum practitioners from the Mother&Child team.

This workshop combines evidence-based guidance with honest, practical conversations about what fatherhood actually looks like in the early weeks and months.

Topics include:

  • holding and carrying a newborn confidently

  • soothing techniques and reading baby cues

  • diapering, burping and newborn care basics

  • what to do when baby won’t stop crying

  • supporting breastfeeding and postpartum recovery

  • helping your partner without feeling helpless

  • relationship changes after baby arrives

  • paternal postnatal depression and mental health

  • realistic expectations for the early weeks

What makes this different?

This is not a repeat of a standard antenatal class.

Dad Skills focuses specifically on:

  • the father’s role

  • practical confidence

  • emotional preparation

  • the realities of early parenthood

No fluff.
No pretending it’s easy.
No treating dads like assistants.

Honest conversations about fatherhood, identity and mental wellbeing

Created in collaboration with Alliance Counselling, The Dad Room is a facilitated support space for fathers navigating the transition into parenthood.

Because sometimes the hardest parts of fatherhood are the ones nobody says out loud.

The Dad Room creates space for conversations around:

  • identity shifts

  • emotional overwhelm

  • relationship strain

  • loneliness and isolation

  • anxiety and self-doubt

  • paternal mental health

  • balancing work, family and expectations

No judgment.
No fixing.
No pressure to perform.

Just honest conversation and support from people who understand the realities of fatherhood.

Suitable for:

Expectant and new fathers looking for connection, reflection and support.

Why Mother & Child?

For over 30 years, Mother & Child Singapore has supported families through pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and postpartum life.

The Dad Space extends that support intentionally toward fathers.

Our team includes medically and nursing-trained professionals, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, counsellors and postpartum specialists who work closely with families every day.

We have seen where fathers thrive. And we have seen where they are often left unsupported.

This space was built to change that..

Your Questions, Answered

  • Not at all. Many fathers join because they want to feel more prepared and more involved this time around.

  • No. These sessions are intentionally father-focused.

  • Dad Skills is an educational workshop.
The Dad Room is a facilitated support space, not individual therapy.

  • Absolutely. Many do.

  • Then you are probably exactly the kind of father this space was built for.

You do not need to have all the answers before becoming a father.

But preparation helps. Support helps. Community helps.
