Cradle Care for Nannies

Does my helper know how to safely handle and care for a newborn? Is my helper confident about safe sleep practices and preventing SIDS?

A Nanny’s Handbook for Newborn Nurturing — because great care starts with the right knowledge.

Caring for a newborn is both a joyful and challenging experience. We place immense trust in our home help to care for our babies — yet the quality of care can vary widely without standardised training.
This course equips caregivers with essential knowledge and practical skills to ensure your baby receives the safest, most nurturing care possible.

Course Overview:

In this 2.5-hour workshop, experienced midwives and healthcare professionals guide helpers and nannies through the critical skills needed to confidently and competently care for a newborn.

What’s Included:

  • Feeding the newborn safely (breastfeeding and bottle feeding basics)

  • Diapering and hygiene

  • Bathing and umbilical cord care

  • Safe sleep practices and SIDS prevention

  • Recognising health concerns and knowing when to seek help

  • Comforting and soothing a newborn

  • Emotional support for parents and adapting to the home environment

We encourage open discussion and hands-on practice throughout the session. Please wear comfortable clothing.

Recommended Start Date:

This course is best taken when you have hired a new helper or a confinement nanny to look after your newborn, ideally before the baby's arrival or early in the newborn phase.

FAQs:

My helper has already done the First Aid Course. Does this overlap?
No — First Aid covers CPR, choking, and kitchen safety. Cradle Care focuses specifically on newborn care and everyday safety practices.

Wouldn't my confinement nanny already know this?
While many nannies have experience, a refresher course ensures they are up-to-date on the safest and most current newborn care practices before looking after your baby.
