A 3-hour CPR & choking response workshop for helpers which is concentrated on what matters most in emergencies
This hands-on workshop teaches essential techniques to manage choking and perform CPR on infants and young children. Designed with simple English and visual instruction, this course is ideal for helpers caring for babies and toddlers - especially those with limited English proficiency.
Because every second counts - and every child deserves a caregiver who’s prepared.
Course Structure:
1. Introduction & Emergency Basics
Recognising choking and unresponsiveness
When and how to call 995 (Emergency Medical Services)
Staying calm under pressure
2. Choking – Foreign Body Airway Obstruction
Signs of choking
Back blows and abdominal thrusts
What to do if the infant / child becomes unconscious
Hands-on Practice (manikins provided)
3. CPR for Infant & Child
Checking for response and breathing
Calling for help and starting CPR
Infant/ Child CPR: technique and ratio (30:2)
Practice with manikins
4. Scenario Practice
Role-play scenarios: choking baby, unconscious child
Group review of steps
Q&A session to reinforce learning
Course Details:
Duration: One session of 3 hours
Fee: $150 per helper
Recommended Start Date:
Helpers caring for babies or young children can join at any time.
Helpers of expectant couples are encouraged to join during your third trimester.
