Postnatal Pilates - New class!
Pregnancy changes a woman's body gradually over 9 months, and the birth itself can cause trauma to the pelvic floor, hips, back, and legs. After birth, your body goes through a sudden physical change, and you will need to realign your body as it is no longer carrying baby. Postnatal pilates is a progressive rehabilitative programme to realign the pelvis, hips and legs. We listen to birth stories to understand what you went through, and to adapt exercises accordingly. Was labour: vaginal, caesarean, long/short, standing, sitting, back labour? Did you have: an epidural, an episiotomy, pubis symphasis?
Postnatal pilates is suitable for up to a year post partum. We use props (balls, bands, light weights) to strengthen and tone the body. We focus on pelvic floor recovery, realigning the hips and surrounding muscles, and regaining upper body strength to assist in carrying and breastfeeding baby, and to avoid postural defaults.
Remember, it took you 9 months for your body to change, and for the average woman, it will take that time again to get the body realigned and strong again. There isn't a race, each body has it's own pace. Post natal pilates will give you the tools to ensure that the long term post partum ailments (e.g. incontinence, bad posture) are avoided.
Class details
Pre-requisites:
6 weeks post partum (vaginal delivery) / 12 weeks (caesarean) or with a doctor's note. As this class is a moment for mums to relax and concentrate on executing the exercises, this is a mum only class.
Prices:
8 sessions - $220 per package; Trial class - $30.

Pre-booking is essential and you will be charged for non-attendance if you have not cancelled 24 hours before commencement of class.
